Editorial Guidelines

Bonded By Family exists to give parents practical, trustworthy ideas they can use at home, at parties and through the early years with their children. These guidelines explain how articles are created, checked and kept up to date.

Who is behind the content

Bonded By Family is run by Emily, who decides what is published and is responsible for every article on the site.

How topics are chosen

Topics come from the questions parents ask most: planning a baby shower or gender reveal, hosting a first birthday, keeping kids busy, and handling everyday parenting challenges. Seasonal topics are planned ahead so ideas are ready when families need them.

Research and accuracy

  • Each article is researched before it is written, using reputable and current sources.
  • For pregnancy, health, safety and child-development topics, information follows guidance from established health and child-development organizations, and readers are encouraged to check with their own doctor, midwife or pediatrician.
  • Practical details such as quantities, measurements, costs, age ranges and preparation times are written to be realistic and usable.

Review and fact-checking

Before any article goes live, Emily reviews and fact-checks it. That review covers:

  • facts, figures and claims;
  • age recommendations and safety notes, such as choking hazards, allergies and adult supervision;
  • clarity, so every idea is easy to follow;
  • usefulness, so the article answers the question a parent actually has.

An article is only published after it passes this review.

Updates and corrections

Articles are updated when information changes or when there is a better way to explain something. If you spot an error or something that looks out of date, please tell us on the contact page and include the article link. Corrections are reviewed and made as quickly as possible.

Independence and advertising

Bonded By Family is supported by advertising. Advertisers do not choose, review or influence what we write. We do not currently publish sponsored articles; if we ever do, they will be clearly labeled.
